Crystal Lake is the largest town in McHenry County. Located along a commuter rail line that ends at far northwestern Harvard, and along the route of a proposed new regional circumferential commuter rail line, Crystal Lake has two existing train stops and a proposed third; but its growth is constrained by old gravel quarries that have been transformed into recreational lakes.
