Lewis University (2006)

Lewis University (2006): Undertaken for the fastest growing Catholic university in metropolitan Chicago —one with its own airport and school of aviation— and addressing community concerns emerging from an early fall 2006 design charrette, The Lewis University Campus Plan and Traditional Village District Proposal organizes the Lewis University property into three distinct areas of approximately 130 acres each. The southeast corner of the site is to be lightly developed as a campus recreational area of nature trails and jogging paths that maintains a rural edge to the campus, preserves the Hines Emerald Dragonfly recharge area, and is available to handle water runoff created by development of the rest of the site. The northern portion of the site is where the existing University facilities are located, and is where the expansion of the campus and its programs is proposed. The southwest corner of the site is the area proposed for a new walkable mixed-use village on University-owned property.
